Towards becoming bastions of women’s health, the guiding principle of Phi service is advocating for maternal and child health. We align with WHO’s Sustainable Development Goals 3.1 and 3.2. In the Philippines, exclusive breastfeeding rates remain at 34%, far from WHO’s 50% target by 2025. To address this, the sorority’s flagship project, Milk Matters, remains the only youth-led initiative in the country that ensures a safe and sustainable breast milk supply for premature babies in the PGH Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This pioneering project addresses the issues at the forefront of maternal and newborn healthcare through large-scale milk letting, regular pick-ups, maximizing the PGH Human Lactation Unit, community programs, and public health education. The project fosters a strong commitment to exclusive breastfeeding and meeting the pressing demand for breast milk.
