Cervical cancer remains the second most common cancer among women in the Philippines, yet it is also one of the most preventable with early detection and timely intervention. Recognizing the urgent need for accessible screening, the sorority’s Gynecological Missions provide free cervical cancer screening through visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) in low-resource communities. By offering this simple yet effective screening method, we aim to detect precancerous lesions early, giving women the opportunity to receive timely treatment and improve their health outcomes. Sustainability is at the heart of our gynecological missions as we make sure to return to communities we have visited for continuity of care, complying with the Philippine Periodic Health Examination (PHEx)’s recommendation of VIA every three years. Through education, screening, and follow-ups, we aim to bridge gaps in women’s healthcare and reduce cervical cancer cases.
